A Midsummer Night's Dream

A Technological Marvel

Richard Marsh Dearborn Press and Guide August 1996

Perhaps the best word to describe Henry Ford Community College's production of "A Midsummer Night's Dream" is marvelous, because it has so many things to marvel at. Right from the start, the audience is treated to am impressive set, even by HFCC standards. Set designer Laurel Wilson has outdone herself with this collection of theatrical wizardry. Makeup and costume designer Judith Fletcher-Barber does equally well with the detailed makeup and costumes. Oftentimes, these areas are kept to a minimum and simplify the workload on the production staff.

Stunning Set, Effects Highlight Shakespeare Classic At HFCC

Sue Suychta Dearborn Times Herald August 1996

Henry Ford Community College opened its 1996-1997 season with the Shakespearean classic A Midsummer Night’s Dream. The show runs for one more weekend, Thursday through Sunday, August 15-18 at 8 p.m. (2 p.m. Sunday). For Tickets, call 313-845-990.

A stunning, multi-level set and captivating special effects, conceived and executed by Gerry Dzublinski and Laurel Wilson, set a surreal tone for the production. Faeries appeared as if by magic amidst the tangled vines and trees to dance in the eerily lit fog. An eclectic selection of music, both modern and classical, set the tone as well.
