The Crucible

Crucible Showcases College, High School Talent

Richard Marsh Dearborn Press and Guide August 1993

The drama "The Crucible" is one of select few plays which are special not only because they are well written, but because of the message they convey years after they were written. In this instance, the remainder is that the situation transpiring during the Salem witch trials of 1690s Massachusetts could still happen today--and does. In "The Crucible," five adolescent girls, to avoid punishment, concoct stories of witchcraft in the village, resulting in the deaths of 19 innocent people who refuse to proclaim their guilt.
