HFCC's Oklahoma Is Promising

Richard Marsh Dearborn Press and Guide May 5, 1988

Rodgers and Hammerstein's "Oklahoma!" is one of those plays which have been done over and over again. Henry Ford Community College is taking its turn this weekend at offering the popular musical as part of the school's Fine Arts Festival. At the dress rehearsal Monday, the production showed a lot of promise for opening night audiences tonight. Creative stagework, special effects and choreography promise to offer an interesting evening.

Pioneers Stage Performance

Ford Estate April 1988

The Adray Auditorium stage, in the Fine Arts building, will be invaded by the performance of Oklahoma!, May 5th through 8th. The play is set in the pioneer days of the Oklahoma Territory. It tells of the bumpy road young love so often travels and of colorful complications caused by the rivalry cattlemen of the area. The story is, of course, pure Americana , produced hundreds of times across America. So why Oklahoma here?
